The Royal Plaza Kurali in Trivandrum, Kerala is a beautiful park that attracts tourists from all over India and abroad. It is located on the left bank of the Vembanad Lake and is close to the Vagamon Beach. The Kurali was built in the nineteenth century by the then ruler of Cochin, Rama V. Prabha.

This beautiful place was originally a small fishing village. But during the nineteenth century, when the Portuguese brought there cargo ships, the place developed rapidly. Now it is a popular picnic and holiday destination with plenty of beach access. Kurali has some spectacular places for photography, and is the best place to go for a walk while in Cochin. If we take a look at the history of this place, it was founded by the Plots in kharar around hundred years ago. The Portuguese named it Benaulim wherein they established a fortress here to protect themselves while on a voyage. It later on became a religious city and the name continues to be used by the locals even today. Benaulim has a Portuguese church, fort and even a Portuguese cemetery. All in all, Benaulim has been a vital place for tourists in Cochin since ages and continues to be one of the most visited places in the region.

This is another major attraction in Cochin where tourists get to enjoy numerous attractions. One of them is the famous Benaulim Palace, which was previously used by the Portuguese. It has two main complexes that provide tourists with tours about the history of the place and a glimpse into the lives of the Portuguese. Apart from this palace, the Royal Estuary Museum also gives a glimpse of the rich Portuguese heritage of Cochin and provides information on the area's rulers and the era they ruled. The museum is located near Benaulim palace.
